The Nursery Manager is the senior manager and directly accountable to the Trustees and Management Committee, to oversee the smooth running of the nursery as a whole and is ultimately responsible for all aspects of performance, to ensure that the nursery provides a safe, stimulating and caring environment.

To provide forward planning, evaluation and monitoring for the strategic development of the nursery. To implement the Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) standards in respect of childcare and education and that the current code of practice in respect of employment, health and safety and diversity are met.

To work with the Management Committee to develop and extend the services the nursery provides to the local community.

To implement, review and as appropriate create policies and procedures for the smooth running of the nursery in conjunction with the Trustees and Management Committee.

To ensure that the senior staff team are supported and managed in their day to day responsibilities.

To work with the Finance Officer and the Treasurer to devise the budget and to ensure that all financial controls are implemented.

Knowledge:

·        To have at least 5 years experience in a range of Children’s Services and a Level3 / 4 or above qualification in childcare

·        Knowledge of strategic planning and development and the ability to monitor and evaluate

·        Knowledge of child development and curriculum appropriate for children in the early years

·        Experience of fund raising, writing grant application forms, liaison and negotiation with funding agencies and the local authority

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

·        Ability to manage a Senior staff team Heads of Units and Childcare Team

 

Experience:

Scope of Position:
