Our client requires an experienced Senior Care Worker/ Social Worker to work  helping to support the over 11's.You will be responsible to the team manager and your main objectives for the job will be to recruit, assess,train,supervise and support a wide range of foster carers appropriate to the needs of the borough's diverse looked after population.  You will also be required to find families for children which match their assessed needs and promote the interests of children in placement.

The main duties and responsibilities for the successful applicant will be to participate in foster carer recruitment campaigns,with a focus on carers for teenagers.  To persue opportunities to heighten local awareness of the need for family placements both in general and among specific communities, in accordance with the annual recruitment strategy.

You will need to assess prospective carers, both individually and as part of preparation groups, as to their suitability for the fostering task.  To ensure that "checks" on carers and significant others are completed and updated within prescribed timescale and Health and Safety assessments are routinely undertaken.  To conduct a training needs analysis of each foster carer and ensure they participate in training courses and other initiatives identified as relevant to their particular needs as teenage carers.

You will also be required to participate in the running of a Fostering Duty Service in conjunction with the placement service.  To be responsible for the maintenance of files to the standard required by the department.  To assist in the maintenance of accurate information systems concerning all placement resources as required.

To provide practical support to dependant older people living in the community using a range of services including day services and services in the home responding to their physical, emotional psychological needs of a wide range of people with physical and sensory disabilities, mental health difficulties and dementia.

To participate in providing a programme of activities to enable service users to maintain and where possible develop new daily living and social skills to enable them to continue to live within the community.

To be involved on transport duties, act as driver or escort of service, ensure vehicles are road worthy and to assist in the provision of safe, secure and pleasant enviornment at day centre.

Knowledge of the physical, psychological and emotional and personal care needs of the older person.  The post holder must possess a clean current driving licence which includes category D1.

Knowledge and principals of the care in the community and related legislation.  Experience of working with older people, disabled people or vulnerable people in a paid or voluntary capacity.

The postholder is required to work weekends on a rostered basis as part of their normal five-day working week if based at a seven-day opening centre.

·        Supervise NYAS Participation Worker and support opportunities for young people’s participation throughout the county production of Wazzup magazine.

·        Manage project office in line with agency requirements.
